The publication of scientific abstracts is linked to congress registration. We therefore recommend that you register within the most favourable deadlines so that you can benefit from the special pricing conditions.

Abstracts will be available within the Congress Proceedings to be published in an indexed international journal (with DOI) in electronic format (PDF and HTML) available on the SPF website. Only abstracts accepted from participants whose registration has been paid in advance in accordance with the congress organisation will be published.

Before submitting your abstract, we advise you to carefully read the following points:

1 – Subject areas

Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiology; Sports Physiology; Cellular and Molecular Physiology including “omics”; Comparative Physiology; Education; GI, Endocrine, Metabolic and Nutritional Physiology; Nervous System, Neuroscience and Neurophysiology; Hydro-electrolytic Balance and Renal and Urinary Physiology; Environment, Well-being and Active Living; Others

2 – Definition and Components of the Abstract:

An abstract should be a structured summary of the experiment/research, not exceeding 300 words.
The abstract should include an introduction, methods, results and conclusion, but these should not be divided into sections. References, graphs and tables are not permitted in the abstracts. A list of 3-5 keywords should be included.

3 – Ethical aspects

It is absolutely essential that all vertebrates and Octopus vulgaris used in experiments are treated and, where appropriate, euthanised humanely.

For experiments on animals or animal tissues carried out in the EU/UK, authors declare that the procedures applied comply with current EU/UK legislation. For work carried out elsewhere, authors assume responsibility for declaring that all procedures comply with current national legislation/guidelines, or, in their absence, with current local guidelines.

In this case, abstracts should also indicate
– the type of animal used (common name or genus) in the title or text;
– the name, dose and route of administration of drugs used in all experimental procedures, even if preparatory, such as sedation/anaesthesia; this also includes procedures used to monitor the quality of anaesthesia;

For experiments on human beings or human tissues, authors must declare that the procedures used comply with the ethical standards of the national, institutional, or other body responsible for research and experimentation on human beings (e.g., Ethics Committee) and with the principles of the World Medical Association’s Declaration of Helsinki.
In this case, abstracts must also:
– specify, in the title or text, that the work was carried out on human subjects or human tissue;
– detail medicines or chemicals, even if they are not patented; in the latter case, references to unpatented medicines must include a brief description of their effects.

4 – Types of presentations – POSTER OR ORAL

Abstracts may be submitted with the author’s preference for communication as an ORAL presentation or as a POSTER presentation. The Scientific Committee will notify the authors of its decision on the presentation format in a timely manner.

In either case (whether presenting orally or in a poster), the first author will be responsible for the presentation, provided they are duly registered for the congress. Any change in the first author (the presenting author) always implies a change in the list of authors to be published.

Abstracts are submitted exclusively in ENGLISH to facilitate the process of publication in an indexed international journal.

  • ORAL COMMUNICATIONS will be presented on stage, from a lectern with a set of slides:
    • the maximum duration is 8 minutes, plus 2 minutes for questions
    • all slides should be written in ENGLISH
    • The presentation should be made in ENGLISH
  • POSTER PRESENTATIONS will take place in an area and during times designated for this purpose.
    • The presenter must accompany their poster during the scheduled session.
    • Abstracts presented as posters will be evaluated during the poster session by the Scientific Committee (see Awards).
    • Information on poster format (size and mounting options) will be provided.
